We recently heard from alum, Edward Schultz, who played flute with PYSO from 1969-1972. Here’s what he had to say about his time with PYSO.

“I fondly remember my good friends in the flute section, and a wonderful trip to Lausanne, Switzerland as my final event.”

Mr. Schultz continued saying that some of his favorite PYSO memories include,

“ …Mrs Maazel being our orchestra mother, and Bernie Goldberg, my teacher, being an inspiring presence as assistant conductor. I still remember the literature we played that inspired me to continue to pursue my career in music. I am still in good touch with two members of the orchestra.”

Schultz is now Principal flute at the Pennsylvania Ballet, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Philly Pops and Network for new music.

We love hearing from alums and sharing memories! Thank you very much to Edward Schultz for sharing with us.
