For this week’s High Notes feature, we heard from Ryan Fulton (pictured left), who has played trumpet with the orchestra for 7 seasons. Ryan is currently pursuing a double major in Trumpet and Music Education at Duquesne University. In high school, Ryan was a PMEA- All State performer for two years, and performed in the Regional and District Honors Bands. In 2018 he was awarded the Blackwood Music Scholarship, as well as the Chancellor’s Award at Duquesne University. Ryan was also the winner of the Washington Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and was a featured soloist in their 2018 concert, Abracadara.

Here is what Ryan had to say about PYSO’s impact on his life: “PYSO has been a constant through my high school and college career. Being able to study and play under the batons of two prestigious conductors, as well as working with the fantastic Brass coaches has enriched my musical career in many ways that I never knew possible. PYSO has not only provided me with extensive musical knowledge, but has motivated me to work harder in order to bring my best to each rehearsal. I have made many lasting friendships through PYSO, and I cannot wait for what the future has to bring for this amazing orchestra!”

Many thanks to Ryan for his submission! Make sure to stay tuned for more High Notes.
