In this podcast from WQED, which aired on March 11, Jim Cunningham interviews PYSO alumnus Joshua Gindele (cello 1989 to 1994) whose father Jerry was also a long-time member of the PYSO Board of Directors and served as President.

Joshua Gindele and John Largess, cellist and violist respectively of the Miró Quartet, chat with WQED-FM’s Jim Cunningham about what it’s like to spend 15 years recording the complete Beethoven string quartets. The full 8-CD boxset, recorded on the Pentatone label, is titled “Beethoven Complete String Quartets”.  A culmination of 15 years of work, the set has been released just in time for Beethoven’s 250th birthday and the 25th anniversary of the Miro Quartet itself. Joshua Gindele has a special relationship to Pittsburgh, having grown up here and played with the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra.
