On Saturday January 8th, PYSO held its annual Concerto Competition. 14 talented PYSO musicians performed their pieces for a panel including PYSO Music Director Jacob Joyce, PYSO Executive Director Bill Powers, and guest panelist Maestro Glenn Lewis.

We are pleased to announce that the winner of the 2021-22 Concerto Competition is pianist Emma Kim.  Emma will perform the 1st movement of Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C major on our concert at Heinz Hall on May 1st.

We would also like to congratulate clarinetist Ethan Carter, who is the runner-up in the Competition.   Ethan will likely perform as part of the Tiffany Series concert on March 27.

Congratulations Emma and Ethan! We also extend a profound thanks to all those candidates who performed in the Competition this year.  The artistic level was very high and a great reflection of the wonderful talent that we have in PYSO.
