Hi! My name is Bridget McKenna and I’m excited to begin working with PYSO as the Communication Coordinator. I wanted to share some of the great music I heard at their first rehearsal this past Sunday.

September 8 was a big day for PYSO members at Heinz Hall! We started at 3:30pm introducing the students to their coaches before sectionals. A special shout-out to Robert Harris, PYSO Alum and professional violist who now lives and plays in Australia, who covered for Marylene Gingras-Roy. Sectionals started at 4pm, with coaches going over the new music with the students, the groups were spread out all over Heinz Hall. At 6, a delicious dinner was graciously provided to musicians and coaches thanks to the PYSO Parents Association.

After dinner the musicians took to the stage to rehearse together with PYSO’s dynamic Music Director Earl Lee conducting! They practiced  Dvorak’s Symphony No. 7; Britten’s Four Sea Interludes and Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, which you’ll hear in our upcoming season.

As my first day meeting the musicians, I was in awe of their dedication and talent. So far, the season is off to a very strong start.
