The PYSO family was saddened to hear of the passing of Joanne Rogers, who was a long-time friend and supporter of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra. An accomplished concert pianist herself, she served on the Board of Directors of PYSO and later the Advisory Board. She was passionate about her love for music and her love for young people. She frequently attended PYSO concerts at Heinz Hall and even accompanied PYSO on its trip to Interlochen Michigan for a youth orchestra festival in 1998. Joanne Rogers was an extraordinary and very special person who will be greatly missed, but the memory of her as well as her spirit of love, compassion and peace will live on.
