As you are aware, the PYSO Staff and Board of Directors have been deeply concerned about the effect of the coronavirus on PYSO’s upcoming tour.
Many PYSO Parents filled out an online survey from the Officers of the PYSO Parents’ Assn and provided valuable and insightful feedback as to how they felt at the time about proceeding with the tour or cancelling the tour.
The officers from the Parent’s Association were invited to the PYSO Board meeting on March 11 and shared their thoughts with the Board, after which the Board deliberated for quite some time.
Each day seems to bring new developments making this situation quite unpredictable. For the health and safety of our students – our top priority – and to minimize exposure and risk, the PYSO Board of Directors has decided to cancel the upcoming tour.
The Painted Violin fundraiser and the Online Auction will be extended into the fall of 2020. Income from those fundraisers will be used to offset the losses absorbed by PYSO.
We know that the decision to cancel will be a great disappointment to many. We will be looking into options for rescheduling the tour for a later date, possibly next year around the same time, and possibly inviting back alumni from this year’s orchestra roster that will be graduating and/or moving on.
