Joseph Beaver (Trumpet 2012 to 2015) is a senior music education major in the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University and this year’s winner of the Robert and Carolyn Shankovich Wind Competition
Beaver performed the first movement of the Haydn Trumpet concerto for judge David Levin, local conductor, adjudicator, and clinician, who selected Beaver as the winner and Maria Hincapie (flute) as the runner-up.
In addition to a $1,000 award, Beaver will have the opportunity to perform the entire Haydn Trumpet Concerto with the Wind Symphony at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland on April 14. That concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

Way to go Joe!
